Extraordinaries #7 Jacky

Jacky’s story is one of incredible courage and determination. After being diagnosed with cancer, Jacky became an amputee as a result. It took years for Jacky to feel confident in herself, often covering her prosthetic to avoid worrying about the thoughts of others. In in 2016 she decided to run a 5K and her running journey began. The Chicago Marathon followed just two years later as Jacky’s confidence and love for running grew. Despite being told that unpredictable surfaces would be extremely tough and not recommended, Jacky decided to try Trail running. 40 miles later, Jackie prove the doubters wrong. Extraordinaries #6 Kat

   This week Kat is the feature of Ordinary Athlete’s extraordinaries! So here’s a bit more about @the1armedmamba  Kat lost her arm at the age of 10 on a carnival ride at the school fair after it derailed, throwing out her and everyone else on it. Kat refused to deny or be angry about how her life would change, instead continuing to follow her dreams saying ‘This is who I am now. Bring it on’. Her first wish was a basketball hoop. Extraordinaries #5 Rose

This week’s feature is Rose. Here’s a little more about what makes her so inspirational. Rose is a keen runner with a love for the outdoors, originally setting up her Instagram page to show her weight loss journey. After two pregnancies, she became anxious and ashamed about the way her body looked. Rose decided to change the narrative. She started to value herself and of her body the way it is, sharing her journey to inspire others to love themselves and their bodies no matter what, often explaining that this is normality and societies beauty standards aren’t. Extraordinaries #4 Jess

Our Extraordinaries feature this week is Jess. Jess’s love for adventure is clear to see. She combines a passion for running with her love of all things Star Wars and Disney by participating in themed events. Who wouldn’t want to be greeted by Chewbacca at the finish line, right?! Jess is pretty incredible, she suffers from scoliosis and chronic pain but despite that can regulate be found up a rock face or even ice face in her home of Colorado. She is a keen rock and ice climber. The force is strong with this one!

Extraordinaries #3 Rosie

Ordinary Athlete’s extraordinaries feature this week is Rosie. Rosie is a proud member of She Runs Cardiff, you can spot her running by the big smile on her face. Collecting medal after medal is amazing in itself but Rosie is about to do something incredible in a different way. She is soon to undergo surgery to donate one of her kidneys to her best friend.
